15th week

I heard about blogging for the very first time from my sister who is very keen of novels. She had her own blog about novel on the net. But at that point of time, I did not bother as I have no interest in it yet. But, as I entered this class, the first assignment that was set up was to have our own blog. So, by hook or by crook, I have to have one and from that I learn to keep on updating the blog.

By blogging , I realized that I could actually share my thoughts, opinion as well as discussed the problems that I have encountered throughout the semester. I could also read the thoughts of other person on certain things. For me this is very good in the sense that we were actually helping each other as we always knew that nobody could live on their own without others in this world. Apart from that, by reading others blog, I could also improved on my language skills by enriching the vocabularies that I had so far as well as picking up on the new phrases or sentence structures. I admit that I am still learning all this as I believed there that there is no full stop in learning. Hehe, talking about what I do not like about blogging, sometimes I was lazy to update my blog and that was where the hatred came in.

I was wondering what is it that I like about this course at first... But as I turned up for this class, everything has change. It includes the way I think about the resources. These are the aspects that I think I have developed to a certain extent.

In terms of communication, I think I mixed around with others better as we were required to work in groups. Before this working with someone that I am not familiar with is not my favour. But now, I can mingle around better and I find it is quite interesting to work with different people each times. It makes me grow matured as I mingled with different people with different attitudes.

Critical thinking and problem solving? Off course…in order to complete the given assignments, we really have to crack our head to think critically in order to come up with a brilliant idea. I could sense that I experienced more headache this semester most probably due to the amount of critical thinking that I’ve done. haha…Problem solving is another one. I always experienced problem during the completion of the assignments. Each time I faced problem, I have to use different kind of strategies in solving the problems. Off course, friends around helped me a lot. I think all of these have really developed me to be a better problem solver.

Leadership? Hehe, nothing much to say about this. Frankly speaking, I don’t like to be a leader…hahaha..But after all, I have to be a leader too one day in the future. Leader=Father, husband and also a teacher.

The most important thing is I begin to be responsible and concern more about my study. Here comes the ethics and values. Right now, I became a better person in the aspect of organizing my time as well as to put priority on my duty. After all, that’s what a student should be.

I do believe that being a teacher is also a life long learning. There will never be full stop for it. Sometimes, teacher too can learn from their pupils. I always believe in the saying, learning is never ending….

In short, I believe that, theres still a lot for me to explore and to learn. With just the current knowledge that I have now is not enough. I really need more and more. I think I’ve clearly described myself here. That’s where I pen off.

14th class

There is nothing much I could write here as in this fourteenth class, we had the final test where we were required to answer four essays questions. There was one question of theory and the others were questions on the applications. We were exposed to the importance of knowing how to apply the knowledge we had learnt before but this apparently what I am lacking of.

I had difficulties in answering the questions as I admitted that I lacked the skills of application. Besides that, some of the questions asked were things that we haven’t learnt in the class. I was trying very hard to answer the questions. Finally, I managed to finish up answering the questions within the given time. Everyone was very anxious about the test as I have found out that, most of us felt the same way about the test questions, they are tough.

All in all, I would say that this test really testing us to the vertical limit and only miracle can be the savior of the day.

Childrens software

The advancement of technology in computer field today has created a vast array of children software that is available in the market. It has somehow revolutionized the ways of how education could be thought in school. As the world keep on globalizing, we could see that we could no longer depend solely on the traditional way of teaching and learning using chalk and talk. We have to integrate something new such as this into our current education.

In this week class, we were introduced to children’s software such as Freddie Fish and etc. This kind of software contains simple and easy games that are able to promote improvement in the learning of English language in particular. With the use of software in the teaching and learning in the classroom, it will help pupils to develop creative and critical thinking skills as well as skill in problem solving. Besides that, pupils will also be able to learn the language while at the same time they enjoyed playing games. This provides a very meaningful experience to the pupils which in turn will make the memory stick and lasted in their mind.

Even though these kinds of software were already out in market, but still I found out that it was not fully utilized by the teachers in school. Only a little number of teachers makes use this creation of technology in their classroom. This might be due to the problem such as lack of teachers’ competency in IT, lack of facilities in school, and also the time constraint.

In short, technology keeps on changing rapidly as the world keeps on globalizing unstoppably. So, again it depends on the teachers of how they are going to make full use of it to enhance their teaching and learning to the maximum.

Selamat Hari Raya...

This class started off with presentation from Razimans group which was the last group to present the given topic. This was actually the continuation of the previous class presentation which was disrupted due to the time constraint.

The presentation helped me a lot in the sense that it helped me to add on the amount of knowledge which is very essential in order to become a teacher. In my opinion, this session is very helpful because it lessen our burden to read up on various topic as each group were given different topic to be discussed and later on presenting their own topic to the whole class. This type of activity encouraged us to share the knowledge that we have with others.

After the presentation ended, we were given another task on research paper. Here, we are required to search on the net to find an article related to English teaching materials and then to examine the article to find out the purpose, objective and the result of the study.

I have tried to search for it but I find it was not an easy task as most of the journals related to the topic on the net required us to buy them. After searching for a few hours, luckily I have found one which was somehow related to the topic given.

I could sense that everybody was already in Raya mood as it will come up very soon, within a week. The chatting was centrally on ‘baju raya, kuih raya, balik kampung’ and etc. To add on the raya mood, ‘lagu raya’ was aired almost everywhere. It reminds me a lot of my family in my hometown and I couldn’t wait to be with them.

To end up my blog, I would like to wish all my friends and lecturer ‘Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, maaf zahir batin’. Hope to come back with a new spirits…

MS Publisher

The class started with the submission of the second assignment which is the E-book. All the documents needed be it hard copy and soft copies were handed in to Izyan, our dedicated class representative. Big thanks to Izyan for helping us a lot in completing this task.

This weeks class let us explore the software called the Microsoft Publisher. My first impression was this has got something to do with publishing due to the word publisher. And my assumption was true. This software allows one to create products such as book cover, templates, news letters, fliers, name cards and brochures. I have heard about this software before but I do not pay close attention to it as I felt that it is of less importance.

As I go through it, I was totally wrong about my assumption. This software is actually very useful in the sense that it enables us to create our own publishing items such as name card, brochures and etc. I always wonder how the people in the publication field create a news letter or brochure, what type of software do they use and sort of question that is mingling in my head. Now I got the answer for it. Hehe…

Slowly, I realized the usefulness of this powerful tool. As for students, they might want to create at least their own name card using their own creativity. For teachers, they might also want to create teaching aids in the form of brochure, fliers or etc to be used in the classroom or to be pasted at the school exhibition board.

Learning is a life long process. The more we explore, the more we realize things that we still do not know..

onetruemedia

Hmm…fasting months really tests one’s nerves to the maximum be it spiritually, emotionally and physically…I’m referring this to myself…With the hot weather, traffic jam, and crowded buses really makes me feel exhausted…Everyday seems endless moments of tiredness…Moreover, tones of assignments and tasks need to be completed in a short time also turns my world into a chaos .But what to do, this is the responsibility of a muslim...huhu… But still, the force to attend my duty as a student…

Today, the lecturer gives us the broad view on the list of assignments as well as tasks that are required for us be completed for the whole semester. This is to clarify all the problems and misunderstanding which happens lately. Hopefully, with this brief explanation, all the miseries and questions will be answered. Thank god. Now, I have a clearer view on the expectation of this particular subject. With tones of works need to be done, I really have to put myself into the fifth gear…”hmm, welcome back the endless day and sleepless night”…….

Learning process involves the process of adopting and adapting information into our schemata. In fact, today, I got to know another new knowledge which is closely related to my future jobs as a teacher. In this class, the lecturer, tells us on what and how to use a materials according to the suitability and proficiency level of the students. This is very important as it will affect the future learning experience of the pupils.

Besides that, the lecturer introduces one more website on video making which is called onetruemedia. Honestly, I have never heard about it before. What is special about this websites is that it allows anyone regardless of IT knowledge that they have with them, to upload pictures into it and the rest of the task to create a video will be guided by the website. All the suggested effects and backgrounds are provided. Users only need to choose one to be applied. Besides that, it is a user friendly software and plus, it is free. That is the most interesting part as normally this kind of software requires the user to buy before they can start downloading and using it in their computer. This is good news to all teachers as they can now slowly starts using video in their lesson.

In short, it is strongly suggested to all of us to try out using this website. It is easy, time consuming and free. So, teachers let us start to adopt a new style and teach the younger generation with a willing heart…….

fourth week thoughts...

Back to blogging stuff again. Here in this fourth class, sets a quite challenging task for me which is, the photo editing task. As for this week, I was introduced to a new field with weird names such as Adobe photoshope, ashampoo, U-lead and etc. Hmm, these names somehow sound very alien to me since I do not have any background knowledge about them. I have no idea of how it works, the components, as well as on how to use it. I must admit that I really have to start it from zero…huhu, life must be very hard for me.

By all means, I tried to download the Adobe photo shop software from the internet but somehow I was advised not to use the trial version as it might last for only certain period of time. Luckily, my friends have the software so I just get them from their computer. Hehe, thanks guys for helping me out. Then I get them installed in my laptop. Once installed, I tried to operate this thing but somehow it seems complicated. The icon and everything in it was very alien to me. Hmm, I was asking myself on what should I do as there was one task on photo editing that have to be completed. And, to make this, I have to use the one of the software….

That’s where I came to the last resort which is to use the ACDSee software. This one was quite easy and more user friendly. Moreover, I did have some knowledge about this software. So, it would not be so difficult this time round. The photo editing processes went on smoothly without any problem. And I was quite satisfied with the product. It might be nothing to the expertise, but for me, it shows the courageous and effort that have been put in completing the task given. Just when everything was done, I uploaded the picture in ADEC. This is one more new thing for me as I have never uploaded anything yet via internet before this and I am very happy with the experience that I have gone through.

In short, I was indeed very happy with myself as I was actually doing a self discovery activity. It was really a meaningful moment at that time. Hehe. Pen off…
